Mallorca is an amazing holiday destination. It really is the perfect place to kick back and refuel. Here are our top five chill out resorts on the sunny island of Mallorca.

Calas de Mallorca

This purpose built resort is located on the southeast coast of Mallorca. It has something for everyone from families to clubbers.

The resort has divided itself naturally into areas, so everyone can do what they want without upsetting those looking for something else. Many of the bars and cafes have chill out zones that offer shade and great views. A lot have pools, so you can sip a cocktail and enjoy the chilled breeze coming off the water.

There are also three sandy coves with on beach refreshments as well as water sports. In the evening, there are plenty of clubs and discos to enjoy as well as restaurants.

Porto Cristo

Porto Cristo is located in Manacor on the East coast of the island. The town has not been completely taken over by tourism, so it is still a great place to experience Spanish culture.

The fact it is a bit different makes it a cool and classy place to stay. The caves of Drach offer something different especially if you see them at night. In the high season, flamenco shows and other musical shows are put on with the caves making a unique backdrop.

During the day, there are plenty of bars and cafes to enjoy. There is also a great beach and the two nature parks. The nightlife is good too, with some great clubs, restaurants and bars.

Cala d’or

Cala d’or is on the East coast and covers several bays, so during the day the beach is definitely the place to be. The resort is full of whitewashed buildings, giving it an intimate and classy feel that you do not get elsewhere in Spain.

It is a fantastic place for those who love to dive and sail. The restaurants and bars are more about champagne and cocktails than they are beer and crisps although both are available.

Most people chill on the beaches during the day, enjoy a late meal and a few cocktails, then maybe an hour or two at one of the small local clubs. If you like fine dining there is plenty of choice because many of the restaurants in the area cater for true foodies although again if you want burger and chips you can get that too in this resort.

C’an Picafort

C’an Picafort is one of Mallorca’s quieter resorts. It is a great place for nature lovers especially bird watchers and walkers. The nature park that covers much of the area attracts thousands of migratory birds and is criss-crossed by dozens of paths and hiking trails.

This part of the island was one of the first to be settled, so it is a great area for history lovers. There are several historical sites to visit. The nightlife is quiet, simple and relaxing.

Palma Nova

As the name suggests Palma Nova is on the doorstep of Palma city. Those who stay here get the best of both worlds. During the day, there are the beaches, water sport and tourist attractions like the water park.

At night, there are plenty of restaurants, bars and clubs. If you are feeling more adventurous Palma city offers something a bit different.
