5 Reasons to Book a Holiday to Fuerteventura

Spread the love

It is that time of the year when your colleagues start disappearing from their desks in the office, only to return in a couple of weeks with a beautiful golden tan. Instead of envying your organised co-workers, you could arrange a slice of the summer sunshine for yourself – it isn’t too late to book a trip for this year!

Assuming you can get your annual leave request signed off by your boss or the HR team, you will be free to dip your toes into the range of locations and resorts across the world that are summer holiday friendly. Although if you are in a rush you may want to rule out many of the options and pick somewhere popular with other tourists, such as the island of Fuerteventura.

Here are five reasons to pick this island for your getaway…

1) The weather is wonderful

First things first, there is some amazing weather to be found in the Canary Islands, especially on Fuerteventura. The Canary Islands are located off the coast of Africa, and Fuerteventura is closest to the Saharan sands. If you want to draw comparisons to somewhere else on the globe, the weather is fairly similar to Florida, meaning there’s plenty of sunshine and fair skies to be enjoyed. Of course this means your holiday to Fuerteventura could be a wise choice if you do want to top up your tan.

2) Water sports are in abundance

If you are travelling with a group of friends or your family, you will need to find some exciting activities to keep you all occupied. Luckily there is just the thing for you in the coastal areas of the island – it’s all about the water sports. Whether you want to try your hand at sailing or paddling, there are facilities on hand to make this happen. You’ll also be able to go parasailing for an opportunity to create memories that you won’t forget in a hurry.

3) There are many places to eat and drink

Another important holiday consideration for many is the availability of restaurants, clubs and bars. Fuerteventura is unlikely to disappoint on that front thanks to resorts such as Corralejo and Jandia. Many hotels on the island also boast their own eateries and bars, so if you are feeling lazy after a long day in the sun, your needs will still be taken care of. If you are looking to eat some authentic cuisine during your trip, make sure to try Papas Arrugadas, a potato dish.

4) The flight isn’t as long as Florida

Before we mentioned that Fuerteventura has similar weather to Florida, but it has a slight advantage as the travel time is considerably less! It can take around 9 hours to reach Orlando by plane, but around half that (or less) to arrive in the Canary Island. This means that you will be able to spend more time on your holiday rather than travelling to and from it – perfect when you have a limited number of annual leave days to take at work.

5) Late deals are ideal

Finally the climate in Fuerteventura is such that it makes an excellent choice for a holiday even out of peak times. Spring and autumn can be great times to visit, and you could end up getting a deal which should make the costs more attractive to you.
