Family Attractions in and Around Benidorm

Spread the love

Some families arrive at Alicante, go straight to their Benidorm hotel, and do not stray far after that. It is almost as if they put down roots. This is a shame because Benidorm offers a huge range of fun activities that families can enjoy.

Here are just a few of them.

Visit a Chocolate Factory

This one has to be top of the list after all who does not like chocolate. Visiting the Valor chocolate factory is fun as well as fascinating. The firm has been making chocolate since 1881. Not only will you get the chance to see chocolate made you will be able to taste it too. The factory is located in a charming country estate that was built in the 19th century.

Family Bicycle Tours

Bicycle tours are increasingly popular. You see them available in more and more resorts. Sadly, most of them are aimed at adults. In Benidorm, the whole family is catered for. You can explore the quite residential streets of nearby Altea and Albir as a family. Each tour includes a stop for refreshments and a ride back to Benidorm through almond and citrus groves.

Horse Riding

Riding a horse is always a great way to see an area. Just outside Benidorm, there is a beautiful ranch that offers horse-riding tours for people of all ages.

Theme Parks

There is plenty to do and see in Benidorm itself, but because of the way the city developed, there are no theme parks within the boundaries of the city itself. However, there are plenty of theme parks in the surrounding countryside.

Here is a roundup of the best of them:

Terra Mitica

This is the biggest theme park in Europe. The park has two themed areas, Rome and Iberia and each area has a unique character. My favourite part of the park is the Roman half, I guess I like it because it speaks to my inner Russell Crow, but the Iberian section is good too. The park is full of crazy rides like, Tizona, a looping roller coaster, and a crazy ball coaster called Inferno. For those who want more sedate thrills there are gentler rides including Arietes, which are Spanish style dodgem cars. Shows and street performers all add to the atmosphere. It is a great day out. Look out for discounts leaflets at your hotel or in local shops you can easily get 25 to 50% off.

Aqualandia

No kids holiday experience would be complete without at least one visit to a water park. It is kind of like a rite of passage for eight year olds, so if you have never taken your child to one try Aqualandia. It has 20 rides and quieter pools for those who just want to chill.

Terra Natura

This park is amazing a theme park, come zoo, come aquarium. There are shows as well as the chance to wonder through the park and get close to the animals. To cool down there is a water park. It is not as big as Aqualandia, but is still great fun.
