Spread the love

Greek Island holidays are understandably popular with UK holidaymakers. Most islands have long and varied coastlines. Importantly, each island has a unique culture and approach to life, which makes them interesting places to visit.

However, one island you rarely see talked about is the Greek Island Rhodes. It really is a hidden gem. The island is a beautiful place that relatively few people know much about.

Here we tell you a bit about some of the best resorts on the island. Using this brief guide, you will be able to find the perfect fit for you and start to enjoy this fantastic place.

Tholos

Tholos is also known as Theologos, but Tholos is easier to say, so that is the favourite name for this beautiful village. This relatively small holiday destination really packs a lot in.

It is the perfect place to unwind and get away from the crazy pace of modern life. The traditional Greek way of life is still followed here and you get a really warm welcome. It is lovely to eat out in one of the many bars and restaurants and enjoy some traditional Greek food, although other cuisines are available.

There are plenty of photo opportunities in the narrow streets with their tall shuttered buildings. The town square with its traditional church is also a delight.

Faliraki

This beautiful seaside village sits around a lovely bay. There are 5kms of pristine sand to enjoy including a stretch of sheltered beach that has been set aside for naturists.

Falkiraki attracts an eclectic mix of tourists. You will find people of all ages from a wide range of nationalities staying here, which helps to make it a vibrant and cosmopolitan holiday destination. There is a wide range of cuisines available in the restaurants including some very good Greek food.

There is a lot packed into this holiday destination. Amongst the attractions are a bowling park, a fun-park and, surprisingly, the largest water park in Europe is just a stone’s throw away.

It is always nice to go down to the harbour. This is a working harbour, so there s always something interesting and different to see here.

Ixia

The settlement of Ixia is located between the towns of Lalysos and Rhodes. It is a purpose built resort, which has been well executed.

If you are looking for a hotel with beachfront facilities, Ixia is ideal for you. This resort also offers a wide range of watersports including windsurfing.

Lalysos

The town of Lalysos, which is also known as Trianta, is located just 5 miles west of Rhodes town. This makes this destination a great jumping off point for exploring the capital city of the island. During the day, you can choose to explore the town, the nearby city or to visit the nearby beach.

Pefkos

This beach resort was originally a small fishing hamlet, which first became a holiday destination for the inland residents of Rhodes. In 2008, the beach was awarded a Blue Flag. From that point, it quickly developed into a destination for water sport enthusiasts and is now a modern resort that offers accommodation for all kinds of holidaymakers including those looking for a self-catering holiday.

The island has a warm climate as well as warm and friendly residents that will look after you well.
