Why we Love Benidorm

Spread the love

For the Brits, and many other Europeans, Benidorm is a holiday Mecca. Every year, this coastal town of just over 73,000 residents welcomes literally millions of tourists. Most years, over 4 million people visit Benidorm and many of them are British, so what exactly is it about this coastal town that makes us flood there every year?

Well it is a combination of many factors. This coastal town has worked actively to attract tourists since the 1960s, and it shows. The town’s council and residents know that tourism is literally the lifeblood of the resort, so they work hard to offer a warm welcome, great facilities and plenty to do.

Sun, sea and sand

Still at the core of the Benidorm experience is the beach. The beaches are long, wide and right on the doorstep of the town. It is easy for you to go to the beach in the morning find your spot then slip off for an hour of shopping while your partner enjoys the sun.

The water is always clean. Benidorm’s two main beaches the Levante and the Poniente both have blue flag status. Every morning, the sand is cleaned and groomed.

Fantastic water sports

Benidorm offers all kinds of water sports. It is possible to enjoy water skiing, scuba diving, jet skiing and paragliding. Banana boats are a big attraction, and there are all kinds of boat trips available meaning that you can go fishing or enjoy a trip over to Peacock Island to enjoy the wildlife.

Great nightlife

Regardless of what you like to do in the evening, you can find it in Benidorm. There are all kinds of clubs, bars and restaurants here all catering for different tastes.

If you want a quiet night with a drink playing cards or enjoying a quiz you can do that. Prefer a more Spanish night out? Go to the old town and join the old Spanish men playing dominos, a not so quiet night out, but none the less enjoyable.

There are numerous nightclubs, the best of which are concentrated around the Avenida Communitat Valencia. If you fancy a show, Benidorm Palace is a good destination to enjoy a variety show and dinner.

Benidorm is alive with music of all kinds. There are live bands in lots of the bars and some places still offer flamenco evenings.

Theme parks, zoos and other attractions

On the edge of Benidorm is Terra Mitica, which is a huge theme park. Also nearby are Marineland, Aqualandia, several zoos and many other attractions.

Re-live your holiday memories

If you went to Benidorm as a child, you will be able to re-live many of your holiday memories. This town is a successful place with many family run businesses and attractions being handed down from generation to generation, which is great because it means that you can take your children to some of the places you enjoyed as a child.
