If you are planning a holiday to Menorca, you will find this guide useful. Here we tell you what this beautiful Spanish island has to offer, so that you can plan your perfect holiday there.

The beaches

Menorca has some wonderful beaches. There is a huge choice, with something for everyone.

Surprisingly, there are still some lovely hidden gems, which few people know about for example Cala d’Algaiarens. This is a wonderful place for people who love nature. The area is flanked by countryside that provides a home to many interesting plants.

The reddish sand and pink rocks of Pregonda beach, near Es Mrcadel are a beautiful sight. For families, Santo Tomas is perfect. There are some great facilities, and plenty to keep the children occupied.

The best nightlife

During the summer months, all of the big resorts offer live entertainment. In the winter, things get a bit quieter, but there is still plenty going on, especially in the bigger nightlife venues. Amongst the best destinations for party lovers are Mao Harbour, and the harbour area of Ciutadella.

If you get the chance, you really should visit the Cova d’en Xoroi. This amazing music and dance venue attracts the best international DJs.

The venue is located in the cliffs high above the sea. You can get there by bus, arriving at 11.45 pm and leaving at 5am, the next day. It makes for a truly memorable night out.

Shopping

Menorca does not have many big stores, but there is still plenty to buy on the island. It is well known for its fantastic leather goods, which you can pick up all over the place. There is also a lot of handmade jewellery available, which is sold at local markets and shops.

One of the best places to shop on the island is the old town at Ciutadella. For clothes, Mahon is a good destination. It has quite a few nice shops and there is a great outlet shop, called Castillo Menorca, located at the western end of the island.

There are also several shoe factories here. One of the best is Pons Quintana, at Alaior.

Outdoor activities

If you like outdoor activities, you are going to love Menorca. Boat trips, jeep safaris, scuba diving, deep-sea diving, go-karting, and much more is on offer at various points on the island. You can also enjoy cycling, hiking, paintballing, horse riding and a range of other outdoor sports.

Theme parks

The island also has several theme parks. Amongst the best is Lloc de Menorca, which is a beautiful nature park and zoo.

Another favourite is the Maze adventure park called El Laberinto, which is located at the Club San Jaime in Son Bou.

If you like water parks, you will enjoy a ride on the Black Hole and a trip on the Adventure River at The Aqua Centre near Ciutadella. The Aqua Rock at Calan Bosch is a great water park for families with young children.

In addition, there is no shortage of things to do in and around the bigger resorts, especially Es Castell, Punta Prima and Calan Forcat. Whatever kind of holiday you are looking for, you will find it on the island of Menorca.
