Carnaval Alemán – The German Carnival – 11 Nov 2014
Everywhere, in Germany and Holland, at 11.11 am on 11 Nov the carnival season begins. This tradition has been bought to Gran Canaria by German expats and it is celebrated on Maspalomas Beach and in the bars along the Playa de Ingles.
Maspalomas Winter Pride 2014 – 13- 15 Nov 2014
Maspalomas is one of the most popular gay destinations in Europe. There is a long tradition of gay events including a huge parade in May.
During November, Winter Pride is held. There is no parade, but a long list of music and live entertainment events. In 2014, the line up includes Baccara, REDD, and great cover acts like Cher by Tania Aboni and Lady GaGa by Donna Marie. If you want to party all night, the Winter Pride event is perfect for you. All are welcome.
The Maspalomas International Carnival – 20 Feb – 1 Mar 2015
This traditional Spanish festival includes carnival queens, processions, live music, live dance and other entertainment. There is something for everyone including the famous Drag Queen event. The Spanish men traditionally dress as women during modern non-religious fiestas, so you get a great mix of professional drag queens and locals having a go. It really is great fun.
The 2015 Bear Carnival – 28 Feb – 8 Mar 2015
Billed as the funniest bear week in Europe this is sure to be an interesting and memorable week.
On Gran Canaria, Maspalomas is not the only place on the island that holds winter events. There are plenty of other events to enjoy on the rest of the island.

The Entierro de la Sardina – 21 Feb 2015
This wacky fiesta welcomes in the spring entierro la sardina means to bury the sardine in English. The unique custom celebrates the emergence of spring with the sardine being given to mother earth as a gift of thanks. The procession for this carnival is always exuberant and unusual. There are always plenty of free sweets and small gifts for the kids.
