Spread the love

The October half term holidays are nearly upon us. Well kind of, they are 10 weeks away, but in the holiday industry terms the October half term holidays really are already here. This is because most parents book this half-term break well in advance, so we are already taking bookings, and those who are reserving their flights and accommodation now are grabbing the real bargains.

Flight prices are about to go up

The cheeky airlines start putting the prices for their October flights up at the end of August. They know that many parents book the autumn half term break even before they have even packed for their summer holidays.

If you want a bargain now is the time to book. To help you to decide here is a bit more information about the three most popular family destinations for October.

By October, the weather has started to cool down a bit. The average is 20C, but it is not unusual for temperatures to reach 23C. On average, you get 8 hours of sunshine, so there is plenty of chance to enjoy the beach.

Attractions in the area are not open as long as they are in the summer. For example, in October, the Terra Mitica theme park is open, but only at the weekends between 10.30 am and 8pm. It makes for a great day out. Mundomar the water theme park is open every day in October with five different shows to enjoy.

The Algarve

In October, the weather is good wherever you go on The Algarve. There are some fantastic all-inclusive deals available in Portimao, Carvoeiro, Albufeira and many other Algarve destinations. Temperatures range between 19 and 25C.

If you go for an all-inclusive deal, you get access to all of the entertainment you or your children need. Most resorts and hotels run a full programme of entertainment for the half term holidays and still run their kid’s club. You just need to check what is available when you book.

Many of the attractions and theme parks are also open, but not as long as they are in the summer. If you are planning a visit to a local attraction, it is worth checking the opening times via their websites, which are mostly in English as well as Spanish.

Pretty much wherever you go on Majorca you are never far from a beautiful beach. There are great hotels and resorts scattered along the coast of this popular island including many that offer all-inclusive deals. Popular destinations for the October break include the Calas de Mallorca, San Llorenc and Cala D’Or.

Daytime temperatures are usually around 18C. Occasionally you get an unusually hot day and the temperatures reach 24C. There is plenty to keep everyone happy at the resorts and hotels and most of the restaurants are open as normal during the half term break to cater for the extra visitors.

If you have not already booked your October break now is definitely the time to do it. Before the best deals disappear completely.
